Katja & Al (In Their Own Words)
On a blustery November 2013 evening, Al went to a bar in Mayfair which held a certain reputation. A few hours later he left, on his own but with the nagging notion that he’d met someone special. ‘Chantelle’ never called. Luckily he’d also met Kat and their paths would cross a couple more times at various Christmas do’s. Al never managed to get her number, even after blowing out a Uni-mates reunion to dash back to the bar as he finally had enough Dutch courage to ask her out. So the weeks turned into months until a nosey ex-colleagues wife found texts from Al to her husband asking for Kat’s number. She checked in with Kat who couldn’t believe her luck 🙂 A few tentative texts turned into level 2 flirting over a few days despite the fear of building up something too much before the first date has even happened! No dramas – it went well. So did the second and the third…and here they are, 3 years later tying the knot.
Apres Ski Inspired Wedding At The Toni Alm
I usually start a wedding blog post with some stories about build up to the wedding day. But for Katja & Al, things went a little differently. I only found out I was photographing it less than 24 hours earlier.
Katja & Al are both lovers of the snow and the mountains. So naturally, a winter wedding seemed like the perfect idea. And since the UK isn’t known for its white winters, they decided to head out to the Alps with their friends and family.
However, mother nature decided to play a cruel prank, and the very same week that they headed out to the snowy Alps in Austria, the “Beast from the East” covered the UK in heavy snowfall. Thankfully, almost all of their guests made it to Kitzbühel in Austria, but one important member of the wedding team was snowed in – their UK based wedding photographer.
Thinking there wasn’t a lot they could do about it at the last minute, Katja & Al accepted that they would have to make do with iPhone pictures from their guests are their wedding photographs. But when their wedding planner Kajsa heard of their misfortune, she called me and thankfully I was available.
Details To Die For
Every detail of Katja & Al’s wedding day had been so perfectly planned to create the most stunning setting. From the beautiful alpine chalet where Katja and the bridesmaids got ready to the magnificently decorated mountain restaurant where they held their wedding, no detail had been forgotten.
