Abby & Jeff met on the ski hill back home in the USA where Abby was teaching skiing and Jeff was race coaching. So skiing is a huge part of their lives and their love story. This winter they decided to plan the ultimate ski trip to Europe. They visited three countries, attended 4 world cup alpine skiing events AND they got married in one of the most famous ski resorts in the world, Kitzbühel. Unfortunately I was already booked for their wedding day, but Abby really wanted to have pictures of them skiing in their wedding clothes, so they decided to book an adventure session with me for a trash the dress skiing wedding shoot a few days after the wedding.
Trash The Dress Skiing Wedding Shoot
With their love of alpine ski racing, I knew the perfect resort to take them skiing for their adventure session. Just outside Innsbruck is the small but stunning resort of Axamer Lizum. This resort was one of the alpine skiing venues for both the 1964 & 1976 winter olympics in Innsbruck, so I knew it would be perfect for these two ski lovers. We met at the bottom of the lift station with our skis in hand and headed up on the chairlift. After a couple of days of snowfall, the clouds were finally lifting around Axamer Lizum to show off the stunning mountain range that frames it, the Kalkkogel. After a few serious pictures at the top, we took a swig of some local pine schnapps and did what they came here to do – GO SKIING!
