How did you get engaged?

We planned an almost month-long hiking road trip from Florida to Utah with stops along National Parks along the way. We spent the day bicycling the entire rim of the Grand Canyon and Kyle proposed on a cliff at sunset. It was the perfect proposal.

Any funny stories leading up to your elopement?

None leading up to our elopement day, but our actual wedding day (almost 2 years before our elopement vow ceremony) was at a junkyard because that was where the nearest notary worked.

How did you decide on your location?

We knew that we wanted it to be a hiking elopement somewhere beautiful that neither of us had been before. When we came across Cat’s photos it really solidified that we should go with the Dolomites and we stopped looking at any other locations.

What were the biggest challenges you faced in planning your elopement?

Cat made everything about planning the elopement really easy! We brought our dog with us which made the day a little more complicated, but Cat gave us a ton of recommendations for dog friendly places to stay and created dog-friendly itinerary suggestions.

What is your favourite memory from the day?

Our favorite memory was getting to say our vows by the lake. It made the day feel truly feel like a celebration of our marriage. Cat gave us plenty of privacy for that special moment while still taking some gorgeous photos.

Is there anything you’re really glad that you did? Or didn’t do?

We are really glad that we brought Stevie’s mom to help care for our dog, Riley. Although he is very cute, he is not always cooperative. It was good to have someone to take care of him while we got some photos of just the two of us.

What advice would you give to other couples planning their elopements?

Cat is an expert. Just listen to whatever she suggests and your sure to have a beautiful and stress-free day.

What was your favourite thing about working with Cat?

Cat was so so sweet. Neither of us our very comfortable in front of a camera but Cat made it fun to get the photos taken! We brought my mom with us to celebrate the day and Cat was so patient and kind with her when her knee started to hurt halfway through the hike. Even before the wedding day Cat made the process really smooth by keeping open communication and preparing a wonderful list of potential locations. She is an amazing person and an amazing photographer!
